List all credit notes next to the original invoice
- When Teresa was using the Invoice Register, she found it annoying to trace any credit amount from the Credit Note Register.
- She proposed that if there is a way to combine the two, that is the system would automatically show any available credit amount available to offset the original invoice amount.
- We have added a simple to use Print Option “Print all with credit note”.
- Now, she doesn’t need to cross check two reports. That saves her a lot of time.
Add date range, all customer and summary to the Trust Transaction Report
- We have a rather simple Trust Transaction Report from the beginning. When Teresa was using it, she found the standard report to be inadequate.
- She proposed to add the Date Range, Print all Customer, and add the Summary option to the original report.

Add Description of the opposite side to the General Ledger
- Basically, general ledger listing is very basic and straight forward. However, when Justin wants to know the full picture of the journal, that means whatever contains on the debit and credit sides, there is an inherent handicap because the transaction description only apply to either the debit or credit side, not both.
- Justin was thinking what if she can see both sides of descriptions on one journal, wouldn’t it be more understanding of the true nature of transaction.
- Because of her insistence to perfection, we had finally change the standard Journal format by including the other side of description.
Organic and growing system
These are some of the most recent changes to CSA Expert and CPAnywhere and we thank you for their time and effort to identify the possibility and ask us to change.
They don’t just accept what is given to them as Truth. They know that users are the final judges to the system’s usability, friendliness and level of support. We are fortunate to have so many creative users who show us a better way to build the system.

Phobos ransomware alert!
Yesterday, one of our CSA users has experienced the attack by the new phobos ransomware. Almost all files in the file server as well as local stations are being encrypted.
The thief demands payment of 20 million dollars in order to unlock the files. If you have not experienced this attack yet, please do the following to protect yourself:
- Make an offline backup of all of your important data, including CSA and accounting data.
- Ask your staff not to open any unknown mail.
- Be careful if you are using VPN for remote access. This may be one way to get into your system.
- Buy 3 external hard disks and rotate them daily for backup. Only one is attached to the system at anytime.
Don’t trust the Symantec antivirus software or similar ones because they are not always up-to-date. Expect the worst and hope for the best.
File Upload Compression
In order to reduce the file size of the file upload, we have added the file compression feature in File Upload. The system would automatically compressed the file into a zip file and add a password protect before uploading.
This will save about 90% of the file space for Excel and Word files and faster speed in uploading and downloading files from the Internet.
New AR Report
During the last two weeks, we have completely revised the Accounts Receivable Aging Report by taking care of the negative balances that may be the result of the Credit Note, One Payment for Several Invoices, Overpayment but put in the wrong place as well as the manual journal entries that affect the client AR without giving it the proper invoice number for reference.
Thanks to Fung Yu CPA’s assistance in finding those discrepancies that may not be found in the normal course of business transactions. We will update your system with the new AR Aging Report once we get every verification done.
Quotation and A/P
Quotation:
We are going to work on the Quotation Function and to rewrite the Prospective Customer as requested by many users. The way to work is simple.
We will use the present Customer, Job and Billing as the base and classify them as “Prospective” in nature.
Once they are confirmed, then we will revert them back to actual.
A/P:
At present, we are studying to put the Accounts Payable in the system.
This is important for company secretarial firms because they do have the cost for the purchase of the “company box” from their authorized agents.
However, we need to tie that to Settlement first. That means no money will be released to suppliers without the confirmed settlement of accounts.

Adding Retail with Inventory?
Mr. Henry Wang of Global Incorporation Limited 环球致优 with offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen has proposed to add the retail with inventory function in CPAnywhere.
The problem with this proposal is that the initial target users are for professional firms.
All billing for inventory items would usually be classified in either Miscellaneous Charges or Reimbursable Items. Almost all accounting systems in the market are retail based. CPAnywhere is unique because the system is geared mainly to professional firms.
However, that doesn’t stop us from putting this Retail with Inventory module in CPAnywhere. I have been thinking about this proposal everyday in order to find the solution to the problem.
If you have any suggestion to this dilemma please let us know.

As the user of the MCSA meeting software and Company123 mobile app, Mr. Adex Tsui (徐文耀大律師), a Barrister with over 20 years of practice experience in stock exchange and SFC regulations and the Senior Legal Counsel of First Shanghai Securities Limited, a Hong Kong listed company, wrote his comments.
We will include all of his suggestions to make the system in full compliance to the rules and regulations of the Companies Ordinance, SFC and SEHK’s requirements.
“Some observations and suggestions for your consideration
- Add the weekday on the time i.e. Monday Tuesday.
- Add the countdown, no. of days or time left before the meeting begins. Mark the status of the meeting, such as “to be opened”, “closed”, “cancelled” or “postponed”
- Before open, whether participant was able to suggest some agenda etc
- Add the timer when the meeting starts and limit the time of discussion section or voting section
- Add the no. of participants (online vs in person) and name if necessary for those who are on line to know
- Add the declaration of interest for directors to declare either in default on declaration of interest or ask them to select. For conflict of interest, either to let them to report if there is any declaration of interest which is in conflict or not. For abstain voting, either to select whether the vote should be abstained or default inability to vote in case of conflict
- Different types of meeting may have different colors

We just got the approval from Apple for the C123 Mobile App. This is super fast!
For MCSA+ users, please ask your meeting participants to download the C123 app from Apple Store and start the online meeting, election or survey functions.
Mass invoice input
We are adding the batch invoice input using Excel file. This is useful for those invoices and settlement items not generated through CPAnywhere.
The system will generate the A/R and the corresponding journal entries for bookkeeping purpose only.
