Variable Definition Language (VDL)

Variables Definition Language (VDL) is a proprietary technology developed by P & L Software Publishing Limited.  It integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Word to facilitate the creation and maintenance of CSA Format Files (document templates) and the intelligent generation of statutory forms, registers, letters, management reports, and other documents within CSA.  VDL3 is the latest generation of the technology.

To implement Variables Definition Language, you will need a Unicode‑enabled version of Microsoft Word for creating CSA Format Files—typically Microsoft Word 2000 or any later version—together with the VDL Interpreter for runtime execution, which is embedded within CSA Expert.

The published specifications of VDL are organized into three (3) categories, namely:

(1)   VDL Functions

(2)  Directives

(3)  Section Delimiters

With these specifications, you can retrieve any data in CSA (including images) and present them in any appropriate way you want in any documents and reports.
